Tehran PE Commemorates
the 113th Anniversary of
Martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal
 
The Philippine
Embassy in Tehran marked the 113th Anniversary of the
Martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal on 30 December 2009, with a simple
celebration.
The Embassy officers
and staff, led by Ambassador Generoso Senga with some members of the
Filipino Community held a flag raising ceremony at 09:00 A.M.,
followed by a short program which included an opening prayer, a
short message from the Ambassador, a reading of the brief biography
of Dr. Jose Rizal by Consul General Rosario P. Lemque and trivia
games about Dr. Rizal. The program was followed by a traditional
Filipino breakfast sponsored by the Embassy.
In his remarks,
Ambassador Senga reminded the audience about the patriotism and
heroic works of Dr. Rizal for our nation.
During the event, the
Embassy also informed the Filipinos in attendance about the Overseas
Absentee Voting that will start on 10 April and end on 10 May 2010.
