PRESS RELEASE
Philippine Embassy in Tehran
Visit Filipino Community
and Hold a Consular Outreach in
Shiraz

Ambassador
Aladin Villacorte and members of the Philippine Embassy staff
visited Filipino Community in Shiraz on 19-20 September 2008.
Shiraz, located
at the central part of Iran, is the capital of Fars Province. It is
home to beautiful gardens and nearby to UNESCO’s heritage Persepolis,
Nagshe-Rostam and Pasargadae.
It is some 13-16
hours drive away from Tehran, which explain why most Filipinos in
Shiraz seldom participate in Embassy activities and visit the
Embassy only occasionally for consular services.
While there, the
Embassy team rendered consular services such as visa, passport
processing, and issuance of Philippines’ identification cards for
Filipinos permanently residing in Shiraz.
Ambassador
Villacorte encouraged Filipinos to get their Philippine passports
and register their names at the Embassy to update their numbers to
database. He likewise informed the community about the Overseas
Absentee Voting.
The Embassy team
was composed of Ambassador Aladin Villacorte, Finance Officer Miriam
Peren-Nazareno and Cultural Officer Emelyn Cosino.
